Imagine ending the afternoon with your child introducing a film they directed. Their invented character has a problem, tries something and reaches an ending they chose. You will have three pictures, a short narration and a complete story to screen at home, with paper panels or a locally saved project to keep. This is an illustrated movie with scene changes; it does not promise continuous AI character animation or lip sync.
Prepare for your family premiere
Bring paper, pencils and a computer with an available Scratch editor for local assembly. Paper pictures and live adult narration also make a complete screening, so no new tool purchase is required. The child makes the creative decisions; the adult handles the computer and any generation accounts. Keep children's photos, voices, real names, school details and personal screenshots out of AI services.
Scratch is designed for ages 8–16. Ages 8–12 may help arrange scenes; for ages 6–7 the adult handles the computer while the child directs on paper. Optional Runway is 13+ with guardian permission for minors; optional ElevenLabs is 18+ and requires the local age of majority. Here, only an eligible adult operates those generation tools using their own account, where accessible. Adult supervision does not replace account age rules. Hand-drawn pictures and live narration remain available if generation is unavailable.
