The Comic Strip Workshop: Four Panels, One Afternoon
A four-panel comic is the smallest complete story a person can make. That is exactly why it is the best second project for a child working with AI — it is short enough to finish in one sitting, and structured enough that finishing it teaches something.
By the end of this workshop your child will have a printed comic strip with their name on it, and will have made roughly fifteen creative decisions to get there. The AI draws. They direct.

Why four panels, and not eight or twelve
The constraint is the lesson.
Four panels forces a child to decide what to leave out. That is the single hardest skill in storytelling and it is nearly impossible to teach directly — but a child with four boxes and a story that needs five will discover it on their own, in about ninety seconds.
There is also a practical reason: four AI-generated images is comfortably inside every free tier. Eight is not.
What this teaches, without ever naming it:
- Setup → complication → attempt → payoff (the shape of nearly every joke and story)
- That a picture can carry information the words don't have to
- That changing one panel changes the whole meaning
